The new Porsche Panamera won’t get anywhere near a showroom for another two months, which shows the level of interest they have generated with the four-door car.

No new Aston Martin team in 2010 F1 season

Thursday, July 9th, 2009

Rumours of a new Aston Martin team for the 2010 F1 season have been quashed as the FIA overlooked the classic racing pedigree of Aston when selecting the three new teams for next season.
The FIA announced that next season’s Formula One starting grid would be extended to include 26 cars, offering an extra three team places. Over ten teams applied for the positions, including Aston Martin and Lotus, but the FIA overlooked them in favour of Campos, USF1 and Manor GP.
The rejected teams have complained alleging that this was only because the teams selected were selected because they agreed

Porsche to make an electric car?

Thursday, July 2nd, 2009

The very notion that a new Porsche should be produced with a diesel engine is enough to turn most petrol heads green with nausea, so imagine how the idea that Porsche could be producing an electric car would be received. It hasn’t stopped the troubled German car manufacturer though, as they’re rumoured to be deep into developments on a new Porsche 911 that runs on electricity.
Jeremy Clarkson will be pleased!
The idea was openly discussed recently by Wolfgang Durheimer from Porsche, even though no specific details were revealed about the project.
Of course, even if Porsche does produce an electric Porsche

Porsche turns down VW offer of a merger

Thursday, July 2nd, 2009

The prospect of a new Porsche / Volkswagen super company has been thrown out by the former after VW suggested a merger to save the indebted German car maker. Porsche is currently heavily in debt after it borrowed substantially in order to fund a would-be takeover of VW, a takeover which it is unable to complete.
As a result of the debt, Porsche has approached the German government looking for a loan to bail it out, but the government is expected to turn down Porsche’s request. Also, due to the recession, sales of new Porsche models have been down, further

New Bond Girl needed in Huddersfield

Wednesday, July 1st, 2009

Most girls grow up dreaming of becoming a Bond girl. There’s something about the exotic locations, the expensive clothes, the fast cars (such as the new Aston Martin DBS in the latest Bond movie) and of course James Bond himself.
What you wouldn’t expect from being a Bond girl however is a trip to Huddersfield. That’s just what the lucky (ish) winner of a Bond girl hunt has in store for them. The Huddersfield town centre Piazza is looking for a Bond girl to take part in their James Bond road show, which takes place at the end of July,

F1 season saved for 2010

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

The future of F1 had been in jeopardy for some time, with many of the teams, including Ferrari, threatening to leave Formula One and form their own breakaway league. However, on Wednesday June the 24th the future of F1 was saved when the FIA agreed to the terms laid down by the Formula One Teams Association.
The main cause for contention was the proposed budget cap of £40 million for each F1 team, which Ferrari were particularly set against as the development of their new Ferrari F1 car would have been hindered. The FIA president, Max Mosley, has now agreed

Used prestige cars going up in value

Friday, June 26th, 2009

According to figures from one of the UK’s leading traders in prestige used Aston Martin cars, used Ferrari cars and other high end models, demand for exotic cars has increased so much that the value of the cars is actually increasing.
From their June sales figures, demand for high end cars is up in spite of the recession and struggling UK and global economy. There has even been competition among buyers for top end cars, even for cars over six figures, meaning that prices have been rising.

Porsche won’t be saved by Daimler insist investors

Thursday, June 25th, 2009

Investment bankers and analysts remain sceptical over the proposed move by Daimler to invest in the debt ridden German car company, Porsche. Many investors believe the proposed move, or even just rumours of the move, have been spread to force the hand of the Qatar Investment Authority who have been approached by Porsche with a view to investing €2.5bn in the company.
Daniel Schwarz, an analyst with Commerzbank stated about the proposed Daimler move:

“Based on earlier statements by (Daimler Chief Executive Dieter) Zetsche and the pressure on Porsche to find fresh equity, we see an agreement with Qatar as more
