Farmer makes new Aston Martin cars in shed!

Monday, July 27th, 2009

British car engineering is all about men with beards building cars with their bare hands in a shed, and one man has gone right back to the roots by doing just that (without the beard).
Andy Soar is a farmer and is used to pottering around with tractors as part of his job. However, bored with the slow speeds that a tractor offers, he set up his own racing company located in his farm. Locked away in his shed for more hours than is usually healthy, Andy Soar has built a brand new Aston Martin DBR1 completely from scratch.

New Aston Martin DBS Volante

Monday, July 27th, 2009

When it comes to luxury cars, there are few better names than Aston Martin. Within the Aston Martin range, the DBS stands tall at the top end of its range, but now Aston has improved it with the addition of a folding roof for those convertible lovers. Now you can drive your new Aston Martin DBS and make sure that everyone can see that it’s you, which is after all the point of owning an Aston.
The new Aston Martin DBS Volante debuts at the Geneva Motor Show and is powered by a 510bhp 6 litre V12 engine, the same

Ferrari makes redundancies amid poor F1 season

Sunday, July 26th, 2009

No one could have predicted the events of this year’s Formula One world championship. With perennial pace setters Ferrari and McLaren off the pace and largely uncompetitive and new team Brawn GP leading the way, the 2009-2010 season has been a real surprise.
Naturally there was always going to be fallout, and Ferrari’s head of aerodynamics, John Iley, has been the first to go. The new Ferrari F60 F1 car has failed to finish first in any of the Grand Prix races so far this year, and the aerodynamics of the car are being blamed for that.
It seems that the

Promise of Free Ferrari doesn’t sell house

Saturday, July 25th, 2009

We recently wrote about a property developer in Bristol who offered a rather unusual incentive to any prospective buyers for his mansion. Duncan Jones offered his pride and joy, his used Ferrari, along with the sale of his house.
His Ferrari is a Ferrari F430 and is worth in the region of £100,000. The car came free for anyone who purchased his million pound property, but sadly to date no one has taken Duncan up on his offer.
Duncan even reduced the price of the house by £300,000, which for a six-bedroom house in Bristol, complete with a free Ferrari, is

No new Aston Martin Lagonda

Friday, July 24th, 2009

Fans of quality Aston Martin cars can breathe a sigh of relief as it has emerged that there will not be a new Aston Martin Lagonda from the company.
The Lagonda received universal derision from the car industry when it was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year, with its huge front grill and ugly back end. Aston’s attempt at making a luxury SUV seemed to have failed miserably, yet they were insistent that it would sell and would be a success.
However, Aston Martin has backtracked now and says that the project has been shelved, with no plans

New Porsche and VW deal close?

Thursday, July 23rd, 2009

It appears that the deal between German car giants Porsche and Volkswagen could be close, which would save the former from potential bankruptcy. The rival factions in control of the two carmakers are to meet today (on Thursday 23rd July) to discuss a deal that could decide who has control over the eventual company that emerges.
The contentious ownership wrangle has split the owners of Porsche down the middle.
The two companies will get together to discuss their future, with one of the roadblocks on the horizon being the tax liability that would be faced by the two merging. Should Porsche

Former Ferrari boss to be FIA president?

Thursday, July 23rd, 2009

Following the battles between the FIA and the drivers association this season in Formula One, the current president of the FIA, Max Mosley, will stand down when his term ends on October. The war erupted over the proposed budget cap for next season, which the F1 teams were violently opposed to (in particular Ferrari, who didn’t think they could develop a new Ferrari car to be competitive with such restrictions).
Now that the budget cap has been scrapped, Mosley will step down, paving the way for a new president of the FIA, and former Ferrari boss Jean Todt looks set

Weber says Alonso could be new Ferrari driver

Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009

The ‘will he/won’t he’ saga of whether Fernando Alonso will move to Ferrari next season has taken another turn following the comments of Willi Weber, former manager to Ferrari legend Michael Schumacher.
Ferrari have insisted in recent weeks that they have two F1 drivers contracted to them, in Massa and Raikkonen, and that any speculation surrounding Fernando Alonso is purely speculation, he will not be a new Ferrari driver next season.
Alonso meanwhile has stayed fairly tight lipped on the subject, while rumours are rife that he will be unveiled as a new Ferrari driver before the end of the year.

Raikkonen wants podium finish for his Ferrari

Tuesday, July 21st, 2009

Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen believes that he can emulate the success of his teammate Felipe Massa and achieve a top three finish in the next Grand Prix in Hungary. According to Raikkonen, his new Ferrari F60 should be perfectly suited to the Hungarian Grand Prix as it’s a slower circuit.
Kimi Raikkonen commented:

“The F60 should run pretty well at the Hungaroring with its many slow corners.
“Furthermore, the temperatures should be slightly higher than at the weekend in Germany: it would be great to gain another podium.”
Raikkonen expressed his satisfaction with his current car, despite the fact that the Ferrari cars have
