Mercedes Benz Safety Cars

Mercedes-Benz has been the proud supplier of service cars for Formula One since 1996, and in 2008 the company continued its association with two of its most exclusive models used.
For 2008 the new Mercedes SL63 AMG was used as the official Formula One safety car. Courtesy of official Mercedes tuners AMG, the car benefits from a revised exhaust system to improve power with the safety car developing 525bhp from its 6.3litre V8 engine.

Despite the world’s financial situation looking precarious in recent months, Mercedes-Benz has defied the credit crunch with over one million new Mercedes-Benz cars being sold during 2008. With the widely publicised struggle of some of the world’s biggest car companies to stay in business, the news is welcome to Mercedes employees, owners and enthusiasts.
The company has continued to develop, addressing criticism levelled at some of its entry level models in the past with regard to build quality. In addition, the company has enjoyed a successful year on the race track, with Lewis Hamilton winning the Formula One Drivers championship

The Mercedes-Benz CLC Coupe has been a huge hit in Britain since its launch in 2002. The car was originally produced as a coupe variant of the Mercedes C-Class (as a rival to the popular BMW 3-series coupe), but since 2007 has been produced as a model in its own right.

With almost one million learner drivers failing their practical test in 2008, young drivers are often encouraged to take to the wheel before their 17th birthday, with lessons taking place on private roads under controlled conditions.

For those who would prefer a new Mercedes-Benz to a BMW, the AMG Mercedes C-Class C63 is a credible alternative to the definitive car in the sports saloon class, the BMW M3. Powered by a 6.2 litre V8, the C63 develops 451bhp, with a strong mid-range hit of power controlled by a seven-speed semi automatic gearbox with paddle control.
