It seems that the saga of whether Formula One driver Fernando Alonso will be the new Ferrari driver or not will continue for the rest of the season. Ferrari insist that he won’t be as they already have two contracted drivers. Other sources insist he will be and he’ll be named as the new Ferrari driver at the Italian Grand Prix later this year.
Now Carlos Ghosn, the chief executive officer of Renault, has waded into the debate declaring that Alonso will not be leaving them for Ferrari, their bitter rivals in the sport.

Alonso will not be a new Ferrari driver
Wednesday, July 29th, 2009Ferrari makes redundancies amid poor F1 season
Sunday, July 26th, 2009No one could have predicted the events of this year’s Formula One world championship. With perennial pace setters Ferrari and McLaren off the pace and largely uncompetitive and new team Brawn GP leading the way, the 2009-2010 season has been a real surprise.
Naturally there was always going to be fallout, and Ferrari’s head of aerodynamics, John Iley, has been the first to go. The new Ferrari F60 F1 car has failed to finish first in any of the Grand Prix races so far this year, and the aerodynamics of the car are being blamed for that.
It seems that the
Promise of Free Ferrari doesn’t sell house
Saturday, July 25th, 2009We recently wrote about a property developer in Bristol who offered a rather unusual incentive to any prospective buyers for his mansion. Duncan Jones offered his pride and joy, his used Ferrari, along with the sale of his house.
His Ferrari is a Ferrari F430 and is worth in the region of £100,000. The car came free for anyone who purchased his million pound property, but sadly to date no one has taken Duncan up on his offer.
Duncan even reduced the price of the house by £300,000, which for a six-bedroom house in Bristol, complete with a free Ferrari, is
Free roadside assistance for owners of classic Ferraris!
Friday, July 24th, 2009For any owner of a classic car one of the most frustrating things is the fact that you’ll constantly need roadside assistance. There’s no getting away from it, when you drive a car that’s decades old you’ll find it invariably lets you down from time to time, meaning an embarrassing wait by the roadside for the tow truck or repair van to show up and spare your blushes.
Ferrari, being Ferrari, have come up with a solution for this in Italy. Any owner of a classic used Ferrari can receive free roadside assistance from Ferrari themselves if they require it.
Weber says Alonso could be new Ferrari driver
Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009The ‘will he/won’t he’ saga of whether Fernando Alonso will move to Ferrari next season has taken another turn following the comments of Willi Weber, former manager to Ferrari legend Michael Schumacher.
Ferrari have insisted in recent weeks that they have two F1 drivers contracted to them, in Massa and Raikkonen, and that any speculation surrounding Fernando Alonso is purely speculation, he will not be a new Ferrari driver next season.
Alonso meanwhile has stayed fairly tight lipped on the subject, while rumours are rife that he will be unveiled as a new Ferrari driver before the end of the year.
Buy a used Porsche owned by Robert Redford
Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009There seems to have been a spate of celebrity owned cars coming up for sale recently, most notably cars owned by footballers Cristiano Ronaldo and Michael Owen. Now a used Porsche owned by a slightly higher calibre celebrity is to become available to buy, from actor and director Robert Redford.
The used Porsche is one of many cars that will be auctioned off in Dorset, with the collection expected to reach in the region of £750,000. The auction is called the Sherborne Castle’s Classic Car show and among the cars included in the sale are a Morris Minor Tourer from
Used Ferrari crashes at Ferrari fun day
Tuesday, July 21st, 2009A Ferrari fun day almost turned into disaster this past weekend when a used Ferrari being driven around Newbury Showground crashed into a tree. Luckily disaster was averted however as neither the driver nor the passenger were injured in the crash.
The driver lost control of his Ferrari as he was driving the high performance car around the track. The passenger of the car was a member of the public who had paid money for the privilege.
The used Ferrari burst into flames, and fire-fighters had to extinguish the fire before the day could continue with more Ferraris on the track.

Raikkonen wants podium finish for his Ferrari
Tuesday, July 21st, 2009Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen believes that he can emulate the success of his teammate Felipe Massa and achieve a top three finish in the next Grand Prix in Hungary. According to Raikkonen, his new Ferrari F60 should be perfectly suited to the Hungarian Grand Prix as it’s a slower circuit.
Kimi Raikkonen commented:
“The F60 should run pretty well at the Hungaroring with its many slow corners.
“Furthermore, the temperatures should be slightly higher than at the weekend in Germany: it would be great to gain another podium.”
Raikkonen expressed his satisfaction with his current car, despite the fact that the Ferrari cars have
No new Ferrari, no Grand Prix
Friday, July 17th, 2009If ever Ferrari’s importance in Formula One needed to be proven, the actions of Ron Walker, the boss of F1 in Melbourne, has done just that. Mr Walker has threatened to pull the plug on the Australian Grand Prix should there not be a new Ferrari on the starting grid for the 2010 season.
With the F1 teams dispute with the FIA seemingly ongoing, the risk of some of the leading F1 teams, including Ferrari, not taking part in the 2010 Formula One season is very real. Mr Walker has requested than the president of the FIA, Max Mosley, stand
Schumacher to return to F1
Thursday, July 16th, 2009Having just revealed himself as being ‘The Stig’ on BBC’s Top Gear (maybe) Schumacher has been surrounded by rumours that he may return to the driving seat in F1, and not with the new Ferrari being developed for the 2010 season.
Instead, Schumacher has been linked with a switch from Ferrari to partner his old friend at Brawn GP. Brawn was the man, who with Schumacher, won seven F1 World Championships.
Schumacher has played down any talk however of him leaving Ferrari:
“If I would have wanted to work, I had the options, and may even now have the options.
But right now,
