3-Series voted most reliable fleet car

Tuesday, January 27th, 2009

The BMW 3-series has been voted the most reliable car in the UK in a survey carried out on British vehicle leasing firms. Whilst the FN50 survey, completed by the Fleet News publication, usually sees Japanese companies come out on top, this is welcome news for BMW drivers in general, as the company was voted the most reliable manufacturer in the same survey.
Using data from several multi-marque leasing companies, 881,000 cars were assessed, with manufacturers being graded in terms of the number of breakdowns per 100 cars in each fleet’s line-up. Extra points were awarded by the number of

E36 BMW M3

Saturday, January 24th, 2009

With the launch of the e36 version of the BMW 3-series in 1992, BMW re-launched its successful M3, with a change in emphasis on the car’s image. Whilst the original car was built to enable BMW to enter touring car races, and was very much a racing car on the road, the new version was developed and sold as an exclusive, high performance sports saloon in its own right.
Whilst the e36 lacked the motorsport credentials of the previous e30 version, the e36 M3 helped build the M3’s reputation as the ultimate sports saloon. One of the main improvements was

BMW X3

Friday, January 23rd, 2009

The BMW X3 is one of the most popular vehicles in the so called ‘soft roader’ market, the car is a small SUV that is arguably more common on the school run than on a country trail.
The X3 is BMW’s answer to the likes of the Land Rover Freelander, and is arguably a better car, although some say the build quality of the X3 is not as strong as on other cars in the BMW line up. The X3 still has far less stories of mechanical trouble that are associated with the Freelander.
The X3 also boasts good performance figures,

Used BMW 330d

Monday, January 19th, 2009

With the much publicised ‘credit crunch’ affecting the residual values of high performance saloon cars, the opportunity has arisen for buyers to obtain relatively new versions of high performance cars at prices cheaper than ever.
With buyers opting for smaller, less powerful cars, those that are prepared to put up with a slightly higher tax bracket will find their money goes further than ever before.
An example of this is the BMW 330d saloon. The 3-series diesel is known as one of the best performing diesels around, and whilst the boom in popularity in the 3-series (which in recent years has

BMW M3 (e30)

Monday, January 19th, 2009

The e30 version of BMW’s famous M3 coupe, introduced over 20 years ago, is the original version of the renowned M3, and is now a desirable classic car in its own right.
Like many exclusive high-performance road cars, the original M3 was introduced as a result of motorsport regulations regarding ‘touring’ cars. BMW was keen to take its 3-series to the racetrack, and had developed many high speed prototypes for the racetrack. But with touring car regulations requiring an official production version of the competition car to be built, BMW launched the M3 version of its e30 3-series in 1986.
