No new Aston Martin team in 2010 F1 season

Thursday, July 9th, 2009

Rumours of a new Aston Martin team for the 2010 F1 season have been quashed as the FIA overlooked the classic racing pedigree of Aston when selecting the three new teams for next season.
The FIA announced that next season’s Formula One starting grid would be extended to include 26 cars, offering an extra three team places. Over ten teams applied for the positions, including Aston Martin and Lotus, but the FIA overlooked them in favour of Campos, USF1 and Manor GP.
The rejected teams have complained alleging that this was only because the teams selected were selected because they agreed

Man crashes Aston Martin and loses wheel

Thursday, July 9th, 2009

In a scene reminiscent from the last James Bond movie, Quantum of Solace, a man drove his new Aston Martin through the Lancashire town of Burnley, crashing into cars as we went, before losing a wheel and carrying on with sparks flying from the car.
Twenty-eight-year-old Thomas George Preston crashed his new Aston Martin into a Ford Mondeo, injuring the driver, before careering off down the road on his remaining three wheels. The police were alerted and they scrambled the helicopter, which then tracked down the damaged Aston, parked in a barn in a farm.
The court in Burnley heard from

A compact new Aston Martin is on the way

Monday, July 6th, 2009

When you think of small, environmentally friendly and economic cars you probably think of Fiat, Nissan or maybe Peugeot. Guaranteed one car name NOT on your lips is that of Aston Martin, who are famed for making V12 180mph plus supercars.
However, Aston Martin seem to be going for something of a market change and are working on a small, cheap, city car. The new Aston Martin is called the ‘Cygnet’ and it’s been hailed by Aston as a “luxury commuter concept”. The car is undeniably an Aston Martin, complete with the aggressive Aston grille and the sweeping lines, but

New Bond Girl needed in Huddersfield

Wednesday, July 1st, 2009

Most girls grow up dreaming of becoming a Bond girl. There’s something about the exotic locations, the expensive clothes, the fast cars (such as the new Aston Martin DBS in the latest Bond movie) and of course James Bond himself.
What you wouldn’t expect from being a Bond girl however is a trip to Huddersfield. That’s just what the lucky (ish) winner of a Bond girl hunt has in store for them. The Huddersfield town centre Piazza is looking for a Bond girl to take part in their James Bond road show, which takes place at the end of July,

Daniel Craig lookalike hopes 007 actor stays on for more films

Friday, June 26th, 2009

When a new actor takes the reigns of a major franchise, such as the James Bond franchise, the loss of the spotlight on the outgoing actor doesn’t just affect the actor themselves. Nobody thinks about the professional lookalike who makes a career doing appearances on the back of their more illustrious lookalike, however Daniel Craig’s lookalike, Max Ryder, hopes the actor stays on as Bond for many years to come.
Daniel Craig’s success as Bond has been great for Max Ryder, based in London, who makes a living simply looking like the James Bond actor. Max’s similarity to Daniel doesn’t

Hull City chairman escapes driving ban

Saturday, June 20th, 2009

Everyone who receives a driving ban for speeding feels hard done by and would like to be able to fight it, and get it overturned. However it’s not always possible without a very strong case. That’s just what Paul Duffen, the chairman of Hull City did after he was banned from driving after being caught speeding in his new Aston Martin V8 Vantage in May this year.
Duffen was driving his new Aston Martin at 55mph while in a 40mph zone and received a six month driving ban for his troubles. However, Duffen successfully argued that the driving ban would

007 wins top petrol honours at Le Mans for Aston Martin

Thursday, June 18th, 2009

You literally couldn’t have scripted this as Aston Martin entered three petrol powered cars into the Le Mans 24 Hour Endurance race this weekend. The three cars were called the 007, 008 and 009.
Guess which one proved the hero and won the top petrol honours, finishing fourth in its class? That’s right, it was 007 that finished the top petrol car, fourth place in its class and beaten only by Diesel cars.
David Richards, chairman of Aston Martin, was ecstatic at his team’s success.

“I’m absolutely delighted. We came to Le Mans with modest expectations and we’ve exceeded all of them.

Watch out Le Mans Aston Martin are in town

Friday, June 12th, 2009

It is 50 years since the name Aston Martin first graced the most famous race in motoring history; the 24 hour endurance race known as Le Mans. This weekend, Aston Martin is entering again and they aim to bloody a few noses against the bigger names in the sport.
Audi and Peugeot may have more experience, a bigger budget and, as it turned out, a lot more time to prepare, but Aston Martin remains defiant that they shouldn’t be ruled out of the equation with their new Aston Martin car.
Aston Martin driver Darren Turner explained:
“It’s very much a David and

Smaller is better for Aston Martin

Wednesday, June 10th, 2009

For most men size is important, but that’s not the case with Aston Martin, who unveiled the new Aston Martin DBS Volante recently. The Aston Martin DBS Volante is the convertible DBS, which allows Aston enthusiasts the chance to drive the powerful DBS while getting the freedom of a convertible.
Ulrich Bez is the chief executive of Aston Martin, and when speaking about the current crisis in the car industry and whether dips in sales would leave the car industry with just a few giants, he responded:

Big is not the answer. Small is better. Today I can hire anything I
