New Aston Martin bus being developed

Thursday, July 30th, 2009

Aston Martin has developed a name for itself over the years making high performance cars. Cars that are luxurious, exclusive and exciting. However, the latest Aston Martin isn’t quite what you’d expect and certainly not something that James Bond would want to drive.
No, this new Aston Martin isn’t a two door supercar, it’s a double decker bus! The new Aston Martin Routemaster bus came about when the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, announced a contest to design a new London bus to replace the Routemaster. One company you wouldn’t have expected to enter the contest was Aston Martin, but

Aston Martin Racing, the racing division of Aston Martin, has revealed that it’s considering its options for next season’s FIA GT1 season, the 2010 World Championship. Aston has received a great deal of interest from Aston Martin customers who would like to contest in the series.
However, the current Aston Martin DBR9 wouldn’t be able to compete in the new series because of the new regulations. This means Aston either need a new Aston Martin DBR9, or they need to modify the existing car to comply with the new rules.

Farmer makes new Aston Martin cars in shed!

Monday, July 27th, 2009

British car engineering is all about men with beards building cars with their bare hands in a shed, and one man has gone right back to the roots by doing just that (without the beard).
Andy Soar is a farmer and is used to pottering around with tractors as part of his job. However, bored with the slow speeds that a tractor offers, he set up his own racing company located in his farm. Locked away in his shed for more hours than is usually healthy, Andy Soar has built a brand new Aston Martin DBR1 completely from scratch.

When it comes to luxury cars, there are few better names than Aston Martin. Within the Aston Martin range, the DBS stands tall at the top end of its range, but now Aston has improved it with the addition of a folding roof for those convertible lovers. Now you can drive your new Aston Martin DBS and make sure that everyone can see that it’s you, which is after all the point of owning an Aston.
The new Aston Martin DBS Volante debuts at the Geneva Motor Show and is powered by a 510bhp 6 litre V12 engine, the same

No new Aston Martin Lagonda

Friday, July 24th, 2009

Fans of quality Aston Martin cars can breathe a sigh of relief as it has emerged that there will not be a new Aston Martin Lagonda from the company.
The Lagonda received universal derision from the car industry when it was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year, with its huge front grill and ugly back end. Aston’s attempt at making a luxury SUV seemed to have failed miserably, yet they were insistent that it would sell and would be a success.
However, Aston Martin has backtracked now and says that the project has been shelved, with no plans

Jeremy Clarkson hosts James Bond themed auction

Saturday, July 18th, 2009

Top Gear’s Jeremy Clarkson is better known for driving fast cars than he is for auctioning them off, but he chipped in with his presenting skills to host a charity auction in Chipping Norton recently. The auction was in aid of Chipping Norton Lido and was hosted by Clarkson because he lives in the area.
The auction was in a James Bond theme, and one of the star lots was a driving experience in a new Aston Martin high performance racing car. Thanks to Clarkson’s usual vigour when talking about cars, particularly Aston Martins, the experience day went for £900.

Job cuts at Aston, despite new Aston Martin launch

Thursday, July 16th, 2009

Aston Martin gave proposals to cut costs, but the union rejected them meaning that redundancies are the only alternative. In December the firm announced that 600 workers would lose their jobs as Aston struggled with the recession.
A union spokesperson added:
“This all comes about after a series
