New Aston Martin bus being developed

Thursday, July 30th, 2009

Aston Martin has developed a name for itself over the years making high performance cars. Cars that are luxurious, exclusive and exciting. However, the latest Aston Martin isn’t quite what you’d expect and certainly not something that James Bond would want to drive.
No, this new Aston Martin isn’t a two door supercar, it’s a double decker bus! The new Aston Martin Routemaster bus came about when the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, announced a contest to design a new London bus to replace the Routemaster. One company you wouldn’t have expected to enter the contest was Aston Martin, but

Alonso will not be a new Ferrari driver

Wednesday, July 29th, 2009

It seems that the saga of whether Formula One driver Fernando Alonso will be the new Ferrari driver or not will continue for the rest of the season. Ferrari insist that he won’t be as they already have two contracted drivers. Other sources insist he will be and he’ll be named as the new Ferrari driver at the Italian Grand Prix later this year.
Now Carlos Ghosn, the chief executive officer of Renault, has waded into the debate declaring that Alonso will not be leaving them for Ferrari, their bitter rivals in the sport.
‘He will continue to drive for Renault

Porsche chief executive fired

Tuesday, July 28th, 2009

The first casualty of the Porsche financial debacle has emerged, and it’s their chief executive Wendelin Wiedeking. Wiedeking was fired this week after the events of recent months where Porsche accrued massive amounts of debt in the failed takeover bid of rival Volkswagen, the largest car maker in Europe.
Wiedeking was instrumental in Porsche’s rejuvenation in the 1990s, but his past accomplishments counted for nothing this week as he left his post after nearly 20 years.
The decision to fire Wiedeking came after Porsche’s advisory board met this week in an all night meeting. They also agreed to allow their new

New Aston Martin DBS Volante

When it comes to luxury cars, there are few better names than Aston Martin. Within the Aston Martin range, the DBS stands tall at the top end of its range, but now Aston has improved it with the addition of a folding roof for those convertible lovers. Now you can drive your new Aston Martin DBS and make sure that everyone can see that it’s you, which is after all the point of owning an Aston.
The new Aston Martin DBS Volante debuts at the Geneva Motor Show and is powered by a 510bhp 6 litre V12 engine, the same

Promise of Free Ferrari doesn’t sell house

Saturday, July 25th, 2009

We recently wrote about a property developer in Bristol who offered a rather unusual incentive to any prospective buyers for his mansion. Duncan Jones offered his pride and joy, his used Ferrari, along with the sale of his house.
His Ferrari is a Ferrari F430 and is worth in the region of £100,000. The car came free for anyone who purchased his million pound property, but sadly to date no one has taken Duncan up on his offer.
Duncan even reduced the price of the house by £300,000, which for a six-bedroom house in Bristol, complete with a free Ferrari, is

Three thousand advance orders for new Porsche Panamera

Monday, July 20th, 2009

If you saw Top Gear last weekend you’d have witnessed the new four-door Porsche Panamera. The team raced the new Porsche against the Royal Mail. The new Porsche is causing a lot of excitement among lovers of fast cars, and Porsche say that they have nearly 3,000 advance orders for their new car.
The new Porsche Panamera won’t get anywhere near a showroom for another two months, which shows the level of interest they have generated with the four-door car.
One interesting fact that Porsche have revealed in relation to their new model is that somewhere in the region of 80

Jeremy Clarkson hosts James Bond themed auction

Saturday, July 18th, 2009

Top Gear’s Jeremy Clarkson is better known for driving fast cars than he is for auctioning them off, but he chipped in with his presenting skills to host a charity auction in Chipping Norton recently. The auction was in aid of Chipping Norton Lido and was hosted by Clarkson because he lives in the area.
The auction was in a James Bond theme, and one of the star lots was a driving experience in a new Aston Martin high performance racing car. Thanks to Clarkson’s usual vigour when talking about cars, particularly Aston Martins, the experience day went for £900.

Car journalist arrested in new Ferrari

Tuesday, July 14th, 2009

A car journalist has been caught speeding a new Ferrari California in Australia, and sadly it wasn’t Jeremy Clarkson. The automotive journalist, Rod Easdown, was caught doing almost double the speed limit in the brand new $500,000 Ferrari California.
The new Ferrari had been imported into Australia by Ateco Automotive and was scheduled to be tested by journalists and media all this week, however it can’t be driven now as the new Ferrari has been impounded by the police. The car will now remain in the police pound for the next seven days.
Mr Rod Easdown is the motoring correspondent for

Megan Fox washes new Ferrari for audition

Tuesday, July 14th, 2009

When you’re the owner of a series of expensive high performance cars such as Porsches and Ferraris, you’ll probably pay to get them valeted professionally. There’s no sense having an expensive car and washing it yourself.
However, just how rich would you have to be to get Megan Fox to turn up and wash your new Ferrari for you? The answer is extremely rich, and powerful. Film director Michael Bay revealed in a press conference to promote his new movie, Transformers Revenge of the Fallen, that he asked Megan Fox to wash his new Ferrari as part of her audition

School kids inspired by Bentley

Tuesday, July 7th, 2009

Bentley set out to inspire school children to become interested in engineering last week. Rockingham Festival in Corby saw a special stall set out by Bentley, featuring some young graduates who work for the company. The graduates were there to inspire school children and entertain them with technology that has been created by Bentley for new Bentley cars.
The stall featured interactive games and examples of science so children were able to get a ‘hands on’ experience. The idea was to show children that engineering can be fun and entertaining.
Bentley’s Christine Gaskell said in an interview to a local newspaper:
