Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

Porsche holds many records, but on the weekend of July 3rd they’ll be going for a new Porsche record, one that you wouldn’t normally associate with the German car manufacturer. On that weekend, Porsche will be attempting the world record for the greatest distance covered in a 48 hour period by a team of a dozen runners, on treadmills.
Not exactly what you’d expect from the company that brought you the Porsche 911.
The world record attempt, which will be officially observed by representatives of the Guinness Book of World Records, will take place at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The

F1 season saved for 2010

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

The future of F1 had been in jeopardy for some time, with many of the teams, including Ferrari, threatening to leave Formula One and form their own breakaway league. However, on Wednesday June the 24th the future of F1 was saved when the FIA agreed to the terms laid down by the Formula One Teams Association.
The main cause for contention was the proposed budget cap of £40 million for each F1 team, which Ferrari were particularly set against as the development of their new Ferrari F1 car would have been hindered. The FIA president, Max Mosley, has now agreed

Buy a house and the used Ferrari is free!

Monday, June 29th, 2009

Buying a used Ferrari is often a big decision. Which type of Ferrari should you choose? Does it feel right for you? How much can you afford to spend? These are all questions you need to consider.
Unless of course you get your used Ferrari free with the purchase of a house, which doesn’t happen every day. A house recently went on the market in the countryside, and rather than the usual fixtures and fittings included, the price includes a used Ferrari Mondial QV Spider.
The vender of the house, Ian Stait, has taken the heart wrenching decision to offer his

Sunday, June 28th, 2009

Despite the problems with the new Ferrari F1 car in this season’s Formula One World Championship, Ferrari will persist with KERS, according to lead driver Felipe Massa. Other teams, including McLaren and BMW, have dropped the system, which stores kinetic energy from the breaks to be used to give the cars a boost, but Ferrari refuse to abandon the system.
Massa insists:
“We will continue to use it, because our design was based on it. We will probably race it for the rest of the season.”
According to Massa, the KERS system gave the Ferraris a boost off the line, but it

TV chef Gordon Ramsay isn’t having the best of times at the moment. November last year saw his extra marital affairs splashed over the newspapers as he was accused of having an affair for seven months. A few weeks ago saw Ramsay in hot water after he called an Australian TV presenter a ‘pig’. That remark even caused the Australian Prime Minister to hit out at the outspoken TV chef.
Now Ramsay’s luck is getting worse as he’s just been stopped by police in his new Ferrari, as they believed they saw him talking on his mobile phone while driving.

According to figures from one of the UK’s leading traders in prestige used Aston Martin cars, used Ferrari cars and other high end models, demand for exotic cars has increased so much that the value of the cars is actually increasing.

Daniel Craig lookalike hopes 007 actor stays on for more films

Friday, June 26th, 2009

When a new actor takes the reigns of a major franchise, such as the James Bond franchise, the loss of the spotlight on the outgoing actor doesn’t just affect the actor themselves. Nobody thinks about the professional lookalike who makes a career doing appearances on the back of their more illustrious lookalike, however Daniel Craig’s lookalike, Max Ryder, hopes the actor stays on as Bond for many years to come.
Daniel Craig’s success as Bond has been great for Max Ryder, based in London, who makes a living simply looking like the James Bond actor. Max’s similarity to Daniel doesn’t

Porsche won’t be saved by Daimler insist investors

Thursday, June 25th, 2009

Investment bankers and analysts remain sceptical over the proposed move by Daimler to invest in the debt ridden German car company, Porsche. Many investors believe the proposed move, or even just rumours of the move, have been spread to force the hand of the Qatar Investment Authority who have been approached by Porsche with a view to investing €2.5bn in the company.
Daniel Schwarz, an analyst with Commerzbank stated about the proposed Daimler move:

“Based on earlier statements by (Daimler Chief Executive Dieter) Zetsche and the pressure on Porsche to find fresh equity, we see an agreement with Qatar as more

German government to say No to Porsche

Wednesday, June 24th, 2009

German luxury car manufacturer Porsche is in deep financial trouble. So much trouble in fact that Porsche recently approached the German government, in a move reminiscent of British banks, looking for a loan to help them stay afloat. Porsche asked for a loan of €1.75bn, which it needs to stay afloat after its failed attempt to take over Volkswagen.
According to reports however, the German government isn’t quite such a soft touch as the UK government, and is ready to refuse Porsche the loan that it needs.
The state owned bank KfW spoke with the German government and advised them against
