A car boosting ring in London has been smashed by police, it was reported this week. A police operation targeted a gang of thieves in London who were responsible for stealing cars such as new Aston Martin models, and Mercedes cars.
In the police operation, 13 people were arrested by police in south London. Police raided 16 homes, including properties in Croydon, Lewisham and Bromley. In the raids, numerous cars were recovered, including spare car parts, drugs and even a gun.
The operation was launched in the wake of a series of car thefts in the London area, which included new

High performance car boosting ring smashed
Friday, July 31st, 2009New Aston Martin bus being developed
Thursday, July 30th, 2009Aston Martin has developed a name for itself over the years making high performance cars. Cars that are luxurious, exclusive and exciting. However, the latest Aston Martin isn’t quite what you’d expect and certainly not something that James Bond would want to drive.
No, this new Aston Martin isn’t a two door supercar, it’s a double decker bus! The new Aston Martin Routemaster bus came about when the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, announced a contest to design a new London bus to replace the Routemaster. One company you wouldn’t have expected to enter the contest was Aston Martin, but
Alonso will not be a new Ferrari driver
Wednesday, July 29th, 2009It seems that the saga of whether Formula One driver Fernando Alonso will be the new Ferrari driver or not will continue for the rest of the season. Ferrari insist that he won’t be as they already have two contracted drivers. Other sources insist he will be and he’ll be named as the new Ferrari driver at the Italian Grand Prix later this year.
Now Carlos Ghosn, the chief executive officer of Renault, has waded into the debate declaring that Alonso will not be leaving them for Ferrari, their bitter rivals in the sport.
‘He will continue to drive for Renault
New Aston Martin for GT1?
Wednesday, July 29th, 2009Aston Martin Racing, the racing division of Aston Martin, has revealed that it’s considering its options for next season’s FIA GT1 season, the 2010 World Championship. Aston has received a great deal of interest from Aston Martin customers who would like to contest in the series.
However, the current Aston Martin DBR9 wouldn’t be able to compete in the new series because of the new regulations. This means Aston either need a new Aston Martin DBR9, or they need to modify the existing car to comply with the new rules.

Porsche chief executive fired
Tuesday, July 28th, 2009The first casualty of the Porsche financial debacle has emerged, and it’s their chief executive Wendelin Wiedeking. Wiedeking was fired this week after the events of recent months where Porsche accrued massive amounts of debt in the failed takeover bid of rival Volkswagen, the largest car maker in Europe.
Wiedeking was instrumental in Porsche’s rejuvenation in the 1990s, but his past accomplishments counted for nothing this week as he left his post after nearly 20 years.
The decision to fire Wiedeking came after Porsche’s advisory board met this week in an all night meeting. They also agreed to allow their new
Farmer makes new Aston Martin cars in shed!
Monday, July 27th, 2009British car engineering is all about men with beards building cars with their bare hands in a shed, and one man has gone right back to the roots by doing just that (without the beard).
Andy Soar is a farmer and is used to pottering around with tractors as part of his job. However, bored with the slow speeds that a tractor offers, he set up his own racing company located in his farm. Locked away in his shed for more hours than is usually healthy, Andy Soar has built a brand new Aston Martin DBR1 completely from scratch.

New Aston Martin DBS Volante
Monday, July 27th, 2009When it comes to luxury cars, there are few better names than Aston Martin. Within the Aston Martin range, the DBS stands tall at the top end of its range, but now Aston has improved it with the addition of a folding roof for those convertible lovers. Now you can drive your new Aston Martin DBS and make sure that everyone can see that it’s you, which is after all the point of owning an Aston.
The new Aston Martin DBS Volante debuts at the Geneva Motor Show and is powered by a 510bhp 6 litre V12 engine, the same
Ferrari makes redundancies amid poor F1 season
Sunday, July 26th, 2009No one could have predicted the events of this year’s Formula One world championship. With perennial pace setters Ferrari and McLaren off the pace and largely uncompetitive and new team Brawn GP leading the way, the 2009-2010 season has been a real surprise.
Naturally there was always going to be fallout, and Ferrari’s head of aerodynamics, John Iley, has been the first to go. The new Ferrari F60 F1 car has failed to finish first in any of the Grand Prix races so far this year, and the aerodynamics of the car are being blamed for that.
It seems that the
Promise of Free Ferrari doesn’t sell house
Saturday, July 25th, 2009We recently wrote about a property developer in Bristol who offered a rather unusual incentive to any prospective buyers for his mansion. Duncan Jones offered his pride and joy, his used Ferrari, along with the sale of his house.
His Ferrari is a Ferrari F430 and is worth in the region of £100,000. The car came free for anyone who purchased his million pound property, but sadly to date no one has taken Duncan up on his offer.
Duncan even reduced the price of the house by £300,000, which for a six-bedroom house in Bristol, complete with a free Ferrari, is
No new Aston Martin Lagonda
Friday, July 24th, 2009Fans of quality Aston Martin cars can breathe a sigh of relief as it has emerged that there will not be a new Aston Martin Lagonda from the company.
The Lagonda received universal derision from the car industry when it was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year, with its huge front grill and ugly back end. Aston’s attempt at making a luxury SUV seemed to have failed miserably, yet they were insistent that it would sell and would be a success.
However, Aston Martin has backtracked now and says that the project has been shelved, with no plans
